A paper by Brian Yellen, Jonathon Woodruff, and colleagues was recently accepted for publication in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans.
"Salt wedge dynamics lead to enhanced sediment trapping within side-embayments in high-energy estuaries" uses investigation of Hamburg Cove off along the Connecticut River near Lyme, CT, to describe the processes by which higher sedimentation rates occur in the Cove during low river discharge due to relatively higher-salinity seawater encroaching upriver during tidal cycles.
